What changed

Stocky, Shopify's inventory app for retail stores, left the Shopify App Store in February 2026 and shut down on 31 August 2026. Many stores used it to print barcode labels for new stock. Your products, SKUs and barcodes are still in Shopify; only the label printing and stock tools went away.

Print barcode labels without Stocky

  1. Install a label app. SGT's free plan includes unlimited label printing.
  2. Pick your printer and label size: Zebra, DYMO, Brother or Avery sheets, or a custom size.
  3. Choose what goes on the label: barcode, price, product name, variant, SKU, and a QR code if you want one.
  4. Select the variants, set how many labels each needs, test print one, then print them all.

Fill the gaps Stocky left

  • Products without barcodes: generate them in bulk, as real GS1 codes or internal codes. See how to add barcodes.
  • New products arriving without codes: turn on auto-generate for new products and variants.
  • Duplicate barcodes from years of manual entry: find and fix them. See find duplicate SKUs and barcodes.
  • Codes kept in spreadsheets: import them from a CSV file.

Shopify suggests its own free Retail Barcode Labels app. If you need GS1 barcodes, automatic codes for new products, duplicate checks or a label designer, compare options in Shopify SKU and barcode apps compared.
